Our moon sign and moon cycles

The moon, because it rotates around the earth, moves in cycles. The four phases which the moon moves in are 1) New moon, 2) [ ] moon, 3) Full moon and 4) [ ] moon. In astrology, the moon symbolizes the hidden and receptive aspects of our psyche, the “yin” aspect of ourselves. The sign in which the moon is in shows how we respond emotionally to situations, our intuitive capacity, where we find inner fulfillment, what “intrigues” us which can indicate also where are passions are. A water moon will describe someone who is naturally more emotional but also more sensitive to others' emotions. A earth moon will describe someone who is attuned to the practical side of life and may therefore be good with business and monetary matters. An air moon indicates a person who is natural at communicating, spreading ideas and enjoys intellectual pursuits; while a fire moon is easily inspired, creative, visionary and action-oriented.

Intuitively, human life has been influenced by moon cycles. At a scientific level, moon cycles is directly associated with the ebb and flow of tides. Since human bodies are 70% water, moon cycles’ relationship with water therefore also affects our bodies as well as our minds. People tend to be more emotionally sensitive during a full moon. According to well-known astrologer Dane Rudyar, the moon cycle represents the cycle of culmination of a new consciousness. Every moon cycle represents an opportunity for us to become more “conscious”; in other words, it indicates a time when we become more aware of the deeper intentions and motives of otherwise automatic subconsciously driven actions and emotional responses. It is also a time we may be more intuitive. If we have suppressed emotions, anger, you will feel it more strongly during a full moon. It therefore represents a good time for resolving past issues we have otherwise ignored for convenience! The new moon, on the other hand indicates a time of new beginning. It is the most opportune time to “sow” seeds such as coming up with new ideas for projects, planning the projects or even thinking about what you want.
